Things are abuzz at "The Lab". We are back from the #AriasFamilyRoadtrip2014. And man, what a trip it was. Some more posts on that will be coming soon-ish. For now I have an update regarding what's happening on the other side of the holiday.
Pretty much as soon as we landed Zack had to gear up for a shoot in Detroit the next day. I was fortunate enough to be told that I was not allowed to assist coz I HAD to go to the Listener (and '68) show in Atlanta. Needless to say, I am a very lucky intern and the show was rad. (Side Note: These are all in camera jpegs and were shot on the Fuji XT-1 and Fuji X100). Nothing special though coz I was stuck in the crowd getting pushed around, but I do love the first shot.
This has been the first full week back at the "shop", which is never smooth sailing after a break. Zack and I have both been feeling the need to go and shoot stuff and work on personal projects. I am currently busy with test shoots for album art for The Ocean Doesn't Want Me (whom I previously did work with, over here) that needs to get done and it's a pain in the ass. I feel so useless and stupid and nothing works the way I want it and I am a hack and I suck. Woe is me!
That being said, I am at least trying to do something about it and making a ton of mistakes and learning what works and what doesn't, but man does it suck wading my way through all of the thickets. I just want to get there already, but obviously I won't learn anything if it was that easy.
Before I move on I just want to mention this project of mine for a second though, if I may. It is a series of double exposures and I've been doing a ton of tests. The ideas are there, but the execution is lacking and that is what I am currently wading through. In-camera vs Photoshop, etc. Here is a very, VERY rough edit that I did, just to give myself some sense of direction.
Zack has a whiteboard, chock-a-block full of stuff needing to get done and posted and upcoming things to shoot/film etc. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled coz some things will be dropping soon. Promise :) New DEDPXL assignments, the XT-1 review you've all been foaming at the mouth - which for dropped last week Friday - crop vs full-frame and some other interesting things are all in the pipeline.
That's it for now.
