A Humdinger of a shoot.
humdinger
noun informal
noun: humdinger; plural noun: humdingers; noun: hum-dinger; plural noun: hum-dingers
a remarkable or outstanding person or thing of its kind.
"a humdinger of a funny story"Origin
early 20th century (originally US): of unknown origin.
For what seems like months and months (which it probably had been at this stage) I've wanted to photograph a portrait of George Georgiou (Co-owner of Humdinger Tattoo), however the stars never quite aligned, until...
George contacted me I think in July at some stage asking if I'd shoot portraits of the entire staff at Humdinger and I said; 'hell yes'! We had a meeting to discuss concept and then I said we needed a stylist (my good friend Pierre du Plessis) onboard and Pierre said we needed a make-up artist and we then met again to do some pre-production things and finally set a date; actually two dates, because we could only shoot at night after the shop had closed.
The concept behind the images were; "vintage; eerie" which I think suited the shop; and everyone working there, perfectly. September 12th and 19th were our dates and I am always helluva nervous before a shoot, which I've come to the conclusion, is a good thing; I think :)
What follows is what I created along with a small, great team of people and Humdinger.
Client: Humdinger Tattoo Emporium
Photography: Bernard Brand
Styling: Pierre du Plessis
MUA: Missy van der Walt (a.k.a. Missy Make-Up Artist)
Assistant: Henry Marsh

Side Note: Chris is the shop apprentice and in most instances shop apprentices are the "butt of the joke" so; everyone thought it would be a good idea to poke fun at him and make him dress like a bearded lady.
I just wanna say, high five to you Chris. You were a trooper.
